Lazy, laconic times on a sailboat in the sun — in sharp contrast to this weekend’s weather. Here in the temperate rain forest of coastal British Columbia we’re being pelted with 100 mm of rain.

The first snowfall reminds me how much I miss the days when I was a remote camp cook and also how glad I am to no longer do such a crazy job. Working in the wilderness can come with some very bad weather!
