Nepal 001

1987. Some of my photographs from travels long ago make me cringe now. This one, for instance, of a poor, hungry girl in a remote Nepali village in the Himalayas. When I took this shot I was 28 years old and I was seated at table laden with platefuls of breakfast. I saw the girl standing across the street, grabbed my camera, and took what I felt was an ‘artsy/edgy’ image.

Even though it’s 25 years later and I’m embarrassed for once taking photos like these, I’ve decided to upload them anyways. Maybe they will be instructive to other travelers. It’s important to delve a bit deeper into our motives and our responsibilities when moving through the world.
