Somewhere in the jungle in southern Mexico. :)

southern tip of Cabo

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The tips of land masses have a strong magnetic attraction for me, perhaps because I can really feel the cataclysm of earth’s continental shifts.

ANDERSON-22049

Cabo was so evocative I even got myself out of bed at dawn so I could take more photos.

Tijuana

Took these shots while traveling in the Mexican Baja.

ANDERSON-22064

I wasn’t going to Tijuana, but it’s a border town with a wild wild west reputation and has always figured large in my imagination.

Is there a word for the base of a waterfall where the water churns with so much force that it never gives the body back?

portrait of the artist

Here’s a link to a great article on Brain Pickings about artists and writers, which likens the making of art to a form of prayer. Unfortunately, praying to my memory will not produce this Mexican artist’s name. Anybody know, please fill me in. :)

This shot was taken 20+ years ago and it seems like yesterday. A hotel right on the zocalo (town square) after a long day of various adventures in and around Oaxaca. We’re happily exhausted, having a Negro Modelo beer and listening to the BBC News on shortwave radio.

1991. After hours of revelry with a dear friend I bumped into in this little town, the sun rose and it was finally time to call it a night.
